Lovin worked with two Afghan translators in 20 who happen to be brothers-in-law: Ali and James (WORLD is using pseudonyms because of security threats). For the last several days he’s been trying to get one of the translators he worked with during a tour in Afghanistan-“James”-out of the country following the Taliban’s takeover this week.
